THE MUSIC PROGRAM AT TRINITY CHURCH

Music ministry has been a strong tradition at Trinity Church for over a century (since 1903).  The church has been blessed with many talented, committed volunteers who offer a wide variety of spiritual gifts.

The Minister of Music, Dianne Huffman Morningstar, has served in this position for over twenty years.  She brings to the program a variety of experience and music choices for the choirs that cover a wide range of repertoire.

CHANCEL CHOIR is a group of 35 singers ranging in age from college students to seniors.  For several hours every Thursday evening, they lay aside the work of daily tasks and find renewed energy in the comfort and delight of choir friends and good music.  Their repertoire is vast, ranging from early motets to gospel rock.  Not only does this group participate weekly in worship services, but sings at local retirement homes at their chapel services, at the Mt. Gretna Bible Conference each summer, the Historic Peace Church, and performs an annual secular concert in dinner theater with the drama department of the church.

They meet each Thursday evening for rehearsal at 7:30 p.m. in the choir room.

Recently, a CD was recorded which includes anthems that are “Trinity favorites”.  This is available for purchase through the church office. Proceeds benefit the church building fund.

TRINITY CHORALE is a select group of twelve singers who also enjoy a unique repertoire.  They have sung at various community events and most recently were invited to perform a spring, 2004 concert at the Hotel Hershey for the Northeast Jurisdictional Convention of the United Methodist Stewardship Foundation.

GOOD NEWS SINGERS enjoy an energetic time together each Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m.  This is a group of young people, grades 6 – 12.  They sing twice a month in worship.

SONSHINE SINGERS rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in the Junior Room.  The choir is comprised of children in kindergarten through fifth grades.  Their director is Wilma Rockey and they are accompanied by Kendall Gomez.  They share their gift of singing once a month in morning worship.

UNITED BELLS, an adult ringing choir, meets Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in the bell room.  Their exceptional technique and ability is extensive and they enjoy the leadership of Wilma Rockey.

TRINITY PRAISE BAND is the newest addition to the music ministry.  They lead the worship each Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. for 'The Crossing', our praise service.  They rehearse each Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.  Volunteers are welcome to become a part of this group.

The entire music department of Trinity Church enjoys a variety of activities throughout the year.  The annual Yuletide Musicale and Tea encompasses each group in concert.  Several cantatas are given throughout the year and Holy Week offers a powerful Tenebrae Service.  A spring concert of secular music is always one of the favorites of our listeners.  The willing spirits of the singers and ringers is reflected in the excellence of their work, and Trinity Church is indeed proud of the music program and is deeply grateful to those whose talent and deep commitment support this ministry.
